hris Kittler was born in Sao Paulo. He is half Brazilian, half Austrian. Since he was young, Chris has been passionate about photography and sports. He competed in high-level sailing, played in the tennis pro circuit, and competed in more than 10 IronMan triathlons, including 3 World Championships, in Hawaii.
In 2000, Chris launched the Ativo.com, a small start-up company that revolutionized the sports industry in Brazil and then grew into one of the largest online participatory sports communities in South America.
Sports photography played a big hit in Ativo’s business succesfull model. Chris' photos covering thousands of sporting events such as the IronMan triathlons, many marathons, and even the Race Across America bike race continue to be published in major sports magazines and media outlets, including RunningBR, Outside, Bicycling, TriSport, Triathlete Magazine, VO2, and O2.
Fast forward to today, Chris and his family live in San Diego, a place he's loved since his first visit back in 1994. Living the California dream, Chris photographs some of the most beautiful places in the world, always searching for a strong connection with sports.
By sharing his art here, he is once again turning his passion into his work.
